If you were on campus this time last year then you probably remember just how awesome our Yorkshire Pudding special menu was in The Pantry. If you weren’t… Well you’ve got an absolute treat to look forward to tomorrow!
The humble Yorkshire Pudding has been around since the mid 1700s, and was originally introduced as a starter course (with thick gravy) to fill up diners so they wouldn’t eat so much of the expensive meat on the main course. Nowadays Puddings are often small, the size of buns, but can also have a larger plate-filling diameter. They’re traditionally a savoury dish, but actually also work really well as a sweet, a bit like a floofy pancake.
As we did last year, we’ll be serving up an amazing Yorkshire Pudding themed menu on February 5 The Pantry, with a cracking mix of traditional and less so. These all come in a giant homemade Yorkshire Pudding…
- Traditional beef casserole and dumplings
- Roasted root vegetable and lentil casserole with herb dumpling
- Chilli con carne with sour cream
- Pork and leek sausage with a rich onion gravy
These majestic treats are only £5 each and we reckon the hardest part will be choosing which one to have… We’re swerving between the chilli and the sausages, but then both the casseroles sound amazing too.
Whichever you decide to go for, best get in early as these were super popular last year. And don’t forget that if you spend £5 you’ll get a scratchcard so you might even win a prize too!
