Because tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday. And you know what that means? That’s right, tomorrow is pancake day! Lovely, sweet, unhealthy pancake day. And we plan on eating as many as we possible can.

Now, first up, if you’re going to have a pancake party (and why wouldn’t you?) you’re going to need some pancakes. Obviously you could go out for them, or buy ready made ones, but to be honest it’s that easy to make pancakes we reckon that’s half the fun.

As per usual BBC Good Food comes up trumps with recipes for both traditional English pancakes and the more floofy American style pancakes, either of which are a great jumping off point. If you want something a bit different (but no less delicious) then Best Recipes Australia has a recipe for Dutch poffertjes, which are like tiny little pancakes with all the sugary goodness. You will need a fancy pan though.

Now, once you’ve got a stack of tasty pancakes, you’re going to need something to put on them. This is our favourite bit, ‘cos there are no limits to how creative you can get with your pancake toppings. A quick whip around the office has suggested the following…

  • Nutella and tinned pears
  • Camembert and ham
  • Bacon and maple syrup
  • Grated cheddar and Marmite
  • Peanut butter and banana

But we’re sure that you have some amazing combinations of your own to suggest, so why not let us know in the comments, on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook what you think we’ve missed?
