As certain people in our office keep mentioning, it’s not long at all till Christmas now, and you know what that means – Christmas shopping. Now we’re not against the idea of buying everything on Amazon so you don’t have to brave the hordes, but we also think it’s MUCH nicer to support local business – and it just so happens that Hull has an absolutely awesome selection of shops for you to choose from… 

Warren Records, near the BBC building
Warren Records is an independent shop in Hull. They specialise in underground and self published zines, books and comics. They also carry a wide range of punk/alternative vinyl, enamel pins, patches, cards, art prints, postcards and lots more. 

Form, Humber Street
Form is a haven for the very coolest prints and cards by local artists and creatives, not to mention a magnificent range of books, stationery and gifts. If you love the quirky, the cool and the weird, you’re gonna love Form too. 

Poorboy Boutique, Humber Street
After re-locating to the recently booming Humber Street, Poorboy offers a varied selection of women’s and men’s clothing and accessories. The team source unique, vintage pieces and give them a new lease of life!

Beasley’s, Hepworth Arcade
Beasley’s is Hull’s oldest established independent, new and retro vintage shop. The shop has been importing items from America for over 30 years, stocking Cheap Monday, Dickies and more!

Dove House No. 87, Newland Avenue
This particular Dove House has two floors of vintage, retro and curios treasures. The shop is super affordable and like all Dove House Shops, all the money goes towards Dove House Hospice!

Tessies, Newland Avenue
This cute and quirky shop all about body confidence and female empowerment, stocks fabulous jewellery, clothing and accessories has gorgeous gifts for anyone style conscious!

Funky Wormhole, Bowlalley Lane
Funky Wormhole stocks an incredible selection of new and second hand records, record players, record bags and boxes, t-shirts and accessories.
Cocoa Chocolatier & Patisserie, Humber Street and Trinity Market
Cocoa started out in Trinity Indoor Market, with a vision of bringing something different to Hull. Cocoa offers proper artisan produce made from scratch and with fantastic ingredients. From individual chocolate boxes to celebration cakes, I’m sure Cocoa will have the perfect gift for the chocoholic in your life!

Chinese Laundry, Saville Street
One of Yorkshire’s premier vintage clothing boutiques, their shops are home to a vast range of 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s male and female vintage clothing, hand-picked from Europe, USA and Japan’s finest vintage collections.
