Welcome back!  The Christmas break feels like a distant memory since we got back to The Beacon for our Hull Sport Team day on 2 January. The day was a great success with lots of feedback and ideas and we’re really looking forward to 2019!

It’s been great to see so many people using our amazing new facilities since we re-opened.  The team from Hull Kingston Rovers have been pre-season training (with a friendly against Widnes last weekend) and the contactors are back on site, working hard to bring you yet more fantastic sports facilities here on campus. All in all, it’s a busy time for Hull Sport.

Just a quick update for you on the refurb of our old building which is due to open in May 2019.  As most of you will remember, the building was very old and tired so a full programme of refurbishment is underway with scaffolding currently in the old Hall to enable a deep clean of all of the old concrete surfaces and removal of the solar film from the windows.  The pipework for the new changing areas is being installed, as well as first-fix electrical and ventilation works.

The link building which runs from the old sports hall to the squash courts has also benefited from a new sarna membrane to the roof.

Next week, they will continue the deep clean of the concrete and ceiling tiles and removal of solar film from the windows.  The upgrade and works in the changing facilities will also continue.

We’ll keep you updated but don’t forget to look out for our posts on Facebook and Twitter.  Have a great week and we’ll post again soon!
