It’s a horrible day out there, so spare a thought for the poor contractors who are still working away on the new Sports Centre build. There’s been a lot happened since our last update, with a whole bunch of new steelwork and decking being stud welded into place. Most excitingly we can now see the first floor! Down at ground level there’s new layers of concrete been poured, waterproofing and sealing work (which suddenly seems very important) done, drainage and windposts installed, protection added to ground beams… We could go on, but the pictures tell their own story.

Perhaps most exciting of all, we’ve received the first visualisation of how the centre is going to look when its finished, looking down from the balcony into the sports hall. It’s huge!

We’re really excited about the sporting opportunities that having this world class facility on campus will bring, not just to students and staff at the University of Hull but also to clubs and members of the local community.

As always we’re extremely grateful to contractors Henry Boot who are doing a superb job project managing the development and keeping it on target for completion.

We can’t wait to see what’s going to happen over the coming weeks, so be sure and keep an eye on the site for updates. If you’d like to know more about the development then you can drop Steve Curtis an email on s.curtis@hull.ac.uk or follow Campus Sports on Twitter or Facebook.
