Swanky new buildings and exciting projects have become a regular occurrence on campus of late, and this is no exception! Following on from the super success of the £30-million accommodation development of The Courtyard, The University of Hull in partnership with the University Partnerships Programme (UPP), has announced plans for a new £130-million student accommodation scheme based on the west of campus.
The West Campus Residences development will include a range of modern, high quality rooms and facilities right on the doorstep of The University of Hull. (So you’ll never miss a lecture!) There will also be plenty of choice for students with varying budgets and preferences, with the aim to make a range of single rooms and one bedroom apartments affordable to just under 1,500 new and returning students. So whether you’re a first year looking to make friends or a post-graduate student wanting some personal space, there’s bound to be something on offer.
The plans also include an urban green and avenue which will house a café, convenience store, laundry facilities and formal and informal outdoor areas, giving the whole space the feel of a mini student village. Sounds exciting right? Well the mock-up designs do not disappoint. With building designs that aim to respect and reflect the local character of existing buildings, the development should sit impressively but comfortably amongst our lovely campus. And it looks amazing!
Keen to get moved in? So are we! But you’ll have to sit tight for a little bit. Planning is still underway, so stay tuned for dates, updates and news on the West Campus Residences Development.
