Well, that time has rolled around again… We’re not quite sure where the week has gone, in a flurry of returning students, miserable weather and super blue moons, but it’s Friday and that means it’s officially time to get excited about the weekend. (Actually Will has been excited about the weekend since Monday, but that’s just the way he rolls).

Of course the big news this weekend is Welcomefest – The Reunion. It all kicked off earlier in the week with Jax Jones and of course Jelly at the Welly last night, but things are kicking up a gear tonight with Professor Green (who we’re not convinced is a real professor, but we’ll let it slide) and Propagandha DJs at Asylum. If you got a wristband (you DID get a wristband, right?) you’ll get free entry; otherwise there are tickets left for £10 each. Which still isn’t too bad. Then on Saturday – assuming you have any energy left – your wristband will also get you free entry to Shuffle at the Welly, which will be playing an eclectic mix of music over two rooms.

If live music is your thing and you don’t fancy Professor Green for some reason then Hull legends Matt Edible and the Obtuse Angels are playing an album release show at the equally legendary Adelphi Club on De Grey Street tonight, and London based riot-grrl duo Skinny Girl Diet are playing Fruit on Humber Street.

There’s always a party to be had at The Piper with Loaded on Friday and Seductive on Saturday, and if you fancy a different kind of club then there’s always Spiders on Saturday night for super cheap cocktails and alternative music, not to mention The Adelphi’s sweet Reggae night, Easy Skankin’.

If you fancy being a bit more cultured then you could check out The Culture at Hull Truck Theatre (which is brilliant, we’ve seen it), and you’ve just time to go see Fat Friends the Musical at Hull New Theatre.

We’re planning on popping down to the Humber Street Gallery to see the exhibitions there so we’ll let you know how it goes. And be sure and tweet us with the exciting things you get up to on the weekend!
