For the first time in our rich history our Rugby League Club have advanced to the second round of the Challenge Cup. We are now the only University club left in the tournament.

The club advanced with a fantastic 24-10 win this weekend against Hensingham ARLFC, a semi-professional club who are currently unbeaten in the Cumbria Men’s League. The club will now look forward to their second round fixture on either the 11th or 12th of February with the draw for their opposition live on BBC at 5:30pm Wednesday 31st January.

Though unlikely, it’s worth mentioning, the club are now only 580 minutes away from Wembley! After the match, Hensingham tweeted

@HullUniRL 24-10 @hensingham_arl well done to Hull much better team on the day & deserves winners, all the best for the next round @TheChallengeCup

Should the club advance through the second round they could potentially face a Super League club, such as Wigan Warriors or Leeds Rhinos, in the third round. Whatever the outcome of the next match we’re all super proud of the team and what they’ve achieved so far.
