Henry Boot has been appointed as the Contractor to build the new Sports Pavilion and despite some testing weather, progress has continued on the foundations and ground works. In the past week the Contractors have:-
- Excavated for ground beams
- Carried out further pile cropping
- Installed blinding to trench
- Put in a new slab and ducts for feeder pillar
- Re-positioned feeder pillar retaining 4 of the 6 flood lights
It took 12 tipper lorries to remove soil from the site! Four loads of concrete have also been delivered, as well as ducting and recycled aggregate.
During this week the Contractors plan to reduce, dig and crop the piles (see photos) and commence installation of drainage and duct work, as well as installation of ground beam steel. Two floodlights which are now redundant are also going to be removed.
We are expecting more heavy good vehicles on site over the coming days with deliveries of concrete, ground beams and steel; drainage, pipe bedding and load-filling sand. Given how busy the site has now become, we ask all staff and visitors to the grounds to take extra care whilst accessing the new sports pitches.
If you see anything which is a cause for concern, please report this to the staff at the Sport & Fitness Centre reception who will pass any messages onto the Project Manager and Contractor’s staff.
There will be a further update in the next few days so please visit this page regularly to stay informed.
