HIIT training (High Intensity Interval Training) has taken the fitness world by storm with the likes of the Les Mills Grit Series, Insanity and MetaFit training classes.
What is HIIT training and what’s all the fuss about?
HIIT training combines short periods of low to moderate intervals with high intervals of explosive exercises. HIIT is considered to be much more effective than normal cardio because the intensity is higher and you are able to increase both your aerobic and anaerobic endurance while burning more fat than ever before.
How will it help with my fitness goals?
Whether your goal is to decrease body fat, increase muscle mass, improve physical endurance or just improve general wellbeing, HIIT classes will help. Each 30 minute class has been proven to increase metabolism and continue to help your body burn fat for up to 48 hours after the class. Not to mention the 500 + calories you will burn in the class itself!!
Due to the design of the classes, most exercise are performed using the clients body weight, so exercises such as squats, butt kicks and press ups regularly feature in these classes, aiding muscle mass increase at the same time as burning the fat.
