Name: Hattie, 2nd Year Mechanical and Medical Engineering
Role: Fabulass Ambassador/FemalRugby
Fabulass is a female only sports and fitness programme at the university. It started the year I came to Hull and since then the number of activities has grown and grown. It’s a great way for girls from all year groups and subjects to get involved with sport in a non-competitive and non-committal environment. You’re not forced to turn up to training every week, so it’s nice and relaxed.
My experience of Fabulass
Having come to university resenting anyone who tried to force exercise on me, it’s fair to say Fabulass has changed all that. The pressure free atmosphere made returning each week an enjoyable experience, and was the encouragement I needed to begin engaging regularly in physical activity. This is the reason I chose to become an ambassador, I wanted other girls to have the same positive experience that I did.
My advice to anyone thinking of getting involved
Just go for it! It might be one of the best things you do at uni and you’ll meet loads of new people, just like I have with my fellow Fabulass ambassadors. And if you don’t enjoy one session there’s something completely different to try the following week! Who knows, you may discover a new favourite sport, and be introduced to a new sports team that way.
