Crazy as it sounds, considering you only arrived a few weeks ago, local landlords will start approaching you about accommodation for your second year.

Every year the university and students’ union hear horror stories of first year students being pressured into signing legal contracts. Fear tactics are used by unscrupulous landlords and if you are unfortunate enough to encounter one they will tell you that if you leave it ‘too late’ you will miss out on the best student digs or even worse there will be none left. None of which is true.

It is for this reason that the university and HUU is proactive in making sure you don’t rush into doing something that you will later regret. Their housing team is coming to halls with the Housing Roadshow. It is well worth making the time to see them as they will provide you with the information, advice and support you need to make the right housing decision at the right time. They will discuss the options available to you including the student accommodation rating system HullSTARS and listings website StuRents.  If you live in The Courtyard the roadshow will be on site, Tuesday 25th October between 3pm and 5.30pm. Those of you living in Taylor Court are also welcome to this event. If The Lawns is your current address they will be visiting you on Thursday 27th October, 4.30pm – 6.30pm.

In the coming months look out for the Speed Friending event and the Housing Fair. All the details can be found here and for university accommodation, which includes options to rent in your second year, have a look on their website
