November is no laughing matter. The days are getting colder and shorter and everyone needs a laugh to keep away the blues.

The University and HUU has partnered with the Hull Comedy Festival to bring you performances from some of the best comedians around. And if you’ve always fancied your chances of being a stand up comedian then there is a workshop for you to learn the skills.

On the 17th, in Middleton Hall, there will be a comedy gala night to raise money for local charity, Avocet Trust who provide lifetime support for vulnerable adults. On stage in Middleton Hall will be the Pappy’s who have featured in the BBC TV show, Badults and the winner BBC New Comedy Award 2015, Yuriko Kotani. Tickets are half price if you are a student.

if you feel inspired to follow in their footsteps then the HUU ‘Find Your Funny’ workshop on the 26th is a perfect introduction for those of you who have always wanted to break into comedy or you just want to do it for a laugh! You’ll be working with comedians and writers who run and perform at Hull’s legendary annual comedy festival, who will guide you through the different aspects of getting into stand up. To get you started have a look at the award winning performance from Yuriko Kotani.
