Chinese New Year falls on February 16 this year, when we’ll move into the Year of the Dog. To celebrate the Confucius Institute will be hosting a bunch of cool activities that you can join in with, but places are limited and will fill up soon so don’t hang around.
Starting on February 9 there’s a Chinese Language and Culture Day over in The Courtyard Multi Function Room. This one-day taster programme will cover some basic Chinese such as pronunciations, greetings, numbers as well as gaining an insight into Chinese culture. A complimentary lunch and class materials are included. All are welcome, but as with all events places are limited so book soon if you want to attend.
On February 12 there’s a dumpling making workshop (which sounds amazing!), on the 14 there’s a Chinese Hour and Film Club and the finale of the celebrations is on March 12 with a special concert in Middleton Hall by the Confucius Institute’s choir, Chinese Whispers.
All events are free but booking is essential – you can find out more on the Confucius Institute’s website.
