Thankfully the good weather has arrived in Hull and the Pitch Contractors have managed to make the most of it.
Over the past week they have installed the geotextile membrane over the whole pitch and almost completed the stone sub-base. They have also installed a large section of the pitch side kerb edgings and marked out for the lighting columns and fencing.
This week the Contractors will remove the footpath dividing the football and new pitch and close the pitch edgings. They will also dig out the lighting column bases. As a result of the good progress over the past week, they have been able to bring the fencing works forward one week and have planned for the fencing crews to start on site today (15 May).
This week’s photos show the geotextile membrane installed, perimeter pitch edging and stone sub-base layer.
The contractors have been experiencing difficulties with students and other members of the public accessing the building sites on Inglemire Lane, by scaling or moving the fences to retrieve balls that have gone over into the building site.
There are valid concerns about pitch users’ safety throughout the building works and the safety of our users is always a priority. This is why we require co-operation from everyone using the pitches, in view of this ongoing problem.
Under no circumstances should sports pitch users be accessing the building site to retrieve balls and any other items which have gone over. A sweep of the area is done each week when all items are retrieved and then returned to the SFC Reception. Items can then be claimed and collected.
